The areas around Fort Meade are full of interesting places to visit. You’ll never be at a loss for something to do! Situated between Washington D.C and Baltimore, MD, there are plenty of day trips you can plan. Washington D.C. is about a 30 minute drive where you can visit the White House and all the different museums in D.C. Baltimore offers places like the National Aquarium, Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor to name a few. Or take a trip to the State Capitol of Annapolis . One of the fairly newer places is the National Harbor, located on the Maryland side of the beautiful Potomac River. The Capital Wheel is something that marks the spot and is a beautiful site as you are crossing over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in the evening! Many beaches are nearby from the Chesapeake Bay to the Atlantic Ocean. If it’s a day at an amusement park that you are seeking, not far away is Six Flags America.
Casino your thing? Not far from Fort Meade are a couple casino’s within 30 minutes.. Casino Live (Arundel Mills Mall), and Horseshoe Casino. Horshoe Casino is also the home of Celebrity Chef’s Restaurant, Gordon Ramsey Steaks! And there is also the MGM Grand at National Harbor. Fort Meade is only about a 3 1/2 hour drive to the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. Ocean City Maryland is a popular summer vacation destination. The 3 mile long boardwalk in Ocean City has something for everyone. While you are there, don’t leave without trying the Thrasher’s French Fries, Salt Water Taffy, Fudge or some freshly made, warm Fishers Popcorn! Other popular Ocean Beaches include Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach. Both located in Delaware, but in the same vicinity! Each place has their own distinctive crowds and styles. Looking for some water activities a little closer to Fort Meade? Look no further than the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is about a 35 minute drive from Fort Meade. Just before you cross the bridge, there is Sandy Point State Park. This is the home of the annual Maryland Seafood Festival, which draws people from all over to try out some of our abundant seafood from Maryland Crabcakes to our fresh Maryland Oysters!
